Glad you managed to work around your joystick problem eventually! Just checking - did you uncompress the files you downloaded? They're gzipped tar files and need to be uncompressed and extracted before you can use the contents. Shout again if you need more assistance in doing so. Basically, once done you should have, in the data/Scenery/Terrain folder, several subfolders (note _not_ just the tgz files), one for each chunk you've downloaded.
