I think it is a point in most check lists of auto pilot equipped
airplanes:-) "Before take off: ... Check autopilot - OFF ...". I
think there were a few accidents due to failure to do so... So
I think this is a very realistic feature of FlightGear!!

It generally *should* be possible to work with force against an
active auto pilot though, but this may be hard to model, as
most of us lack yoke and pedals with force feed back...

Anyway, that leads me to a feature request that I have been thinking
about a while... What about including basic check lists for all
airplanes? The person doing the modeling mostly has access to
basic procedures and data of the airplane. At least characteristic
speeds, like best rate of climb, speed on short final and such
would be good to know for an unfamiliar airplane. Power settings
tables and boost values would be nice to have for relevant
planes.

If I could blend in/pop up a menu where I could request a
certain checklist, power setting or other table, I could select
the information needed along the flight. If the text could be
displayed transparently over the instrument panel it would
be nice. But an option to print them and have them on paper
would really be good enough, maybe even better.

What do you tink?
