It's very possible that metar fetching is causing your pause. This was *supposed* to be handled in a separate thread so it would cause zero pauses, but a small typo crept in a while back that caused the main thread to also try to fetch the metar data as well as the metar fetching thread too. This could lead to pauses or even a crash (very infrequent but possible.) I found and fixed this bug after v0.9.9 was released.
