I am sorry to be late in my response, but during the week-end I have no
E-mail. I used to have a Voodoo3 card that did not make me terribly happy.
With XFree4.0 I have been able to get the 3D acceleration using the dri
interface. But I lost the usage of the key F12 which is used to set up the
heading in Autopilot mode. Also, my frame rate was mediocre (about 15 fps).
Since you have a Banshee card, you will get the same problem.

With my GeForce 3, I get 80-130 fps. Almost an order of magnitude! Also,
note I gave wrong information. My gears run at 1300 fps and not 600 as I
said.

As I said previously, you are looking for trouble by mixing different
distributions. I would really recommand that you buy (or download) a SuSe
distribution. RedHat is notorious for its compiler breaking FlightGear.
Also, it looks that NVidia is the recommanded brand in order to run
flawlessly FlightGear. I know that the GeForce3 card is not exactly the
cheapest, but I am pretty sure that you will be able to find a NVidia card
for about 50.-$ (?) which will outbeat your Banshee.

Personally, I always like solutions which are simple!
