Segmentation fault
Other people have reported this error, but this is the first time I've
seen it caused by a joystick. Do you get the "RenderTexture Error" with
the old joystick, or no joystick?
I also get it with the old joystick but FlightGear start up
OK, so this is definitely a joystick problem and not a rendering problem.
Your Logitech Freedom 2.4 looks very much like my Logitech Extreme 3D PRO,
and I guess the Extreme 3D config file will work for you if you can make that
happen. I forgot how to do that but there are others here (except maybe on
Christmas) who can tell how to find out the name string by which your
joystick identifies itself.

usb 5-2: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4
input: USB HID v1.10 Joystick [Logitech Logitech Freedom 2.4] on
usb-0000:00:10.3-2
dmesg gives the following
usb 5-2: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4
input: USB HID v1.10 Joystick [Logitech Logitech Freedom 2.4] on
usb-0000:00:10.3-2
I'm trying to use %FG_ROOT/Input/Joystick/Logitech/freedom2-4.xml
which should be the correct one for Logitech Logitech Freedom 2.4
merry christmas
