I'm sorry if this has been hashed out before, I couldn't find anything in the archives on it. Through a combination of vendor supplied packages and local combination, I managed to build flightgear for my platform, x86_64 smp. I overcame the freeglut <init cursor> problem with help from the archives, and I even managed to subdue a problem with the kernel clock going way too fast which caused flightgear to also run way too fast. But I have a problem that I can't solve. When "looking around", pivotting the point of view from the cockpit position with SHIFT+numpad, some of the numbers don't work. The one that especially bothers me is 8. The camera will stay pointed 45 degrees off the nose, no matter how much I hit SHIFT+8. Keyapd 4, 6,and 2 also do not shift the camera "look around" but 8 is the killer. The 8 key works well enough to dive the plane into the ground, and the SHIFT key works well with 7 and 9 to pivot the point of view, I just need SHIFT and 8 to work together, so I can see ahead, instead of diving into the ground while looking off to the side.

Any help appreciated.
