Are lighthouses to be considered as interesting landmarks to VFR flight?
I would very much imagine so.
I ask that because I wonder if it could be nice to have 3d lighthouses
(in the scenery) which emit pulsating light like the real ones. Of
course this could be usefull if real pilots were used to that. Otherwise
it could be just a nice addon to flightgear but not so interesting
regarding the pilot's point of view.
You should try flying around the coast of Britain in flightgear :-)
There are a lot of lighthouses modelled... You can see where they are on the
flightgear scenery database website.
Of course, the more the better, and different countries have different styles
of lighthouse which would be nice to include...
I submitted a ocean lighthouse (the ones who are placed in the sea) to
fgfsdb today, I know there are many others already. I wonder if it would
be nice to have them lighting in the night.
I am testing some material animation for fgfs 3d models, in order to get
them emitt light in the night; I'd like to know if this kind of effort
could be usefull (hence required) or just to be considered as 'nice to
look at'.
