Hi Jeremy,

You don't actually have to "install" new scenery.
Unpack it into your personal scenery folder then pooint FG to your additional personal scenery folder.

If I read you right this is exactly what you've done

I put together a quick guide with pictures a while back.

I hope this helps

Subject: [Flightgear-users] newbie scenery problem
Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2006 17:37:33 +0000

Hi. I've just started using FG, 0.9.9, on an XP Pro. Base package is brilliant. I've downloaded a scenery tile (w130n40) and unpacked it into Data/Scenery/Terrain. It appears alongside w130n30 and looks OK. I have tried to install the tile from the Start Menu option "install and uninstall scenery". I go "select scenery source" and I can choose the tile. But when I go OK, nothing appears in the window so there is nothing to install. What do I need to do to install it? and a supplementary - will FG automatically cross over onto the new tile when the plane gets there, or do I have to tell it some new info? Cheers, Jeremy
