My guess is that this (correct) scenery path isn't correctly set.
Either not exported, or overridden by an --fg-scenery option (~/.fgfsrc ?)

Hi Melchior (and other intrested parties),
Unfortunately my problem seems to defeat all the reasonable possibilities.
a. I have never used --fg-scenery command line option; and I have
checked my ~/.fgfsrc, and
found no scenery related options there.
b. I have run "fgfs --airport=CYOW --runway=14 --log-level=info 2>&1 |
tee fgfs_3dir.log"
After I grep with "tile" found 182 of them. Inspected some at the
top, and saw that
aa. it is visiting all my three scenery path elements in the order
they appear.
Note that there is no Terrain in the first; there is
directories for any area except
the environs of KSFO in the second; and there is both Objects
and Terrain of the Ottawa
area in the third.
bb. Objects tiles are read and scanned in both first and third dir.
cc. neighboring tiles are being read in an expanding circ
c. I have put my object and the modified .stg file in the appropriate
/ob/fgWorldScenery
location, and reset FG_SCENERY to that path alone; then I have run
"fgfs --airport=CYOW --runway=14 --log-level=info 2>&1 | tee
fgfs_1dir.log"
aa. other than reduced number of tile files read the events were the
same to my eyes.
d. I grepped both log files for "err" and "warn". Latter is empty.
Former has a lot of Terrains,
but after i filter those out only 5 or so lines were left none of
which seem related, but here
they are:
----- start
RenderTexture Error: Couldn't find a suitable pixel format.
Enabled all logging classes:
terrain|astro|flight|input|gl|view|cockpit|general|math|event|aircraft|autopilot|io|clipper|network|instrumentation|systems
NOTICE: System manager configuration specifies an electrical system:
Aircraft/Generic/generic-electrical.xml but it is being overridden by
the one specified in the -set.xml file:
no terrain intersection
Ready to trim, terrain altitude is: 1130.84
----- end
In all these trials I have never seen my object at all.
I surely am at the end of my wits here.
May be I should give up on the idea of adding to or correcting (in minor
ways) the kinks in
scenery in areas I fly to, and instead work on improving my badly
lacking virtual-flying skills
:-)
Thanks for listening...
