No idea, just a wild guess: the letters under "250" apparently
read "KTS", and this also matches the ASI speed. Could this be
an airspeed or GPS based speed indicator for all directions?
Could be very useful for winch operations in the sea, where
it's otherwise very difficult to stay at a position. (Just
moving waves, not many fixed points to concentrate on.) This
would also explain why it's not in every model. Then again,
maybe such a useful instrument only exists in my dreams ... :-)
