I am having trouble getting the 9.10 to run. I've been using Arthur's
with no trouble but I'm not sure where and how to put the base pkg
9.9-9.10 update. I get a message that it cant find the data dir. I'm
sure I have it at the wrong level. I've lot of Mac experience but not
UNIX or terminal. Could you walk me through it?
Thanks.

any reason why 5 download attempts from different mirrors,

the 0.9.9 FG image.
I didn't make the 0.9.9 image (Arthur Wiebe did), but I'm pretty
sure it worked for me when I last tried it. Arthur does state on
the macflightgear page that it's for 10.4.0 only, and it's just
possible he used a DMG format that only works on 10.4.
The pre-release version of 0.9.10 I linked to in my original email
definitely does open and run correctly on 10.3.9, assuming you also
download the 0.9.10 base package - I have tested exactly this
configuration today and it worked without a hitch. Of course a 1Ghz
emac is unlikely to perform very well, it's only got a Geforce 4MX
as I recall, and they have very slow memory buses too. They weren't
designed for intensive 3D applications!
