My half-baked theory is the issue (not really a bug) is related to
autosave.xml.  I suspect this file doesn't get deleted on windows
uninstall, so removing FGFS and reinstalling didn't fix Heiko's problem.

One of the aircraft may be using the master volume control in its sound
file, and the prefs system is saving that setting in autosave.xml.

I haven't figured out how to grep an xml file to see what directly uses
the property tree entry "sim/sound/volume"
