Ok I have now used Taxidraw to update my airport KPHN with the taxi ways and submitted it to Robin Peel for future inclusion in the scenery database.  In order to speed up the process of adding it for my enjoyment  I have downloaded FGSD and it appears to be functioning.  I also downloaded the TGShapes folder and have that folder defined for the Shapefile directory in the FGSD options.

Do I need a database hostname?
What is one to use?
Is that why I am not seeing any scenery for the tile when I load it?

The Wiki doc says I cannot edit an existing tile although I can load it in and see the symbols for the objects defined in the tile with a dark burgundy background.

I have managed to pull in some fragments and get a visual of the airport.

So the big question how do I create the new scenery for the tile?

The Wiki has these instructions but a few more clues would be very helpful.

This workflow can be summarized as follow :
  • load raw elevations
  • simplify elevation model
  • prepare land cover contour
  • project land cover contour on terrain
  • prepare airport layout
  • project airport layout on terrain
  • export terrain to fgfs scenery tiles
additionally, 3D object models can be placed here and there to add verticality to this somewhat horizontal world.
thanks
