I never never intended to insult, minimize, otherwize those who have done this fantastic work! NEVER. I told my wife (for Chicago) as I flew over some of her sites "it don't get any better than this!"
New York City (my former place) was a bit of a shock. This is why I wanted some easier way to get models of certain buildings like the Empire State, Chrysler, UN, Statue of Liberty and all those nice bridges in place. Someday maybe I'll get the hang of blender. The US Geological Survry has a wealth of high-resolution images around which could be of help. I live in Israel now. I would to make a few "generic" buildings, maybe existing generics with a "Mondrianic" bitmap overlay and cylindrical models. A couple of thse are most the the high points in Tel Aviv's skyline (nothing now, not even generics). Anyway, don't get me wrong.
