The ac files with building models seem to contain wire-frame coordinants and a path to a bitmap file to skin the wire-frame. Actually a nice system--which more 3d programs supported this format!
My idea: Is it possible or .. could it be reasonably implemented to override this bitmap file in the scenery file itself? Doing this would at once multiply the number of generic buildings without overloading the database with multiple copies of each model. A few bitmaps of say, modrianic (grid) curtain walls of various colors (azure, dark green, gold, ..) would cover 99% of modern skyscrapers and easily fix up many cityscapes. A second application of this could be: If a building is largely generic in shape (or similar to another existing model), one could paint its details on an alternative. Should be good enough for now since the buildings are viewed from a distance (unless one is flying for Osama Airways). ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
