I have a full blown NVidia box here with flight gear working perfectly 
(but the joystick).
I have kernel 2.6.18 and NVidia's driver.  FlightGear never gives me 
that kind of problem.  Are you using a true NV.run driver built against 
your kernel or the default one that came from your distro?
