This was impressive enough. There are images available from NASA which we 
could use. Worldwind is a .net app which works in windows but linux is 
coming.

How about a step by step on how to get the google carpeting into the correct 
scaling and correct place on FG's.

Google's satellite stuff seems to be a similar scale and resolution to our own 
"buildingblocks" urban carpet. Their aerial photography (USGS may be public 
domain) is much higher resolution and has the problem of shadows :-)

Worldwind images use satellite images combined with radar. Have not seen it 
yet but they are available while google's are not.
