The MP system shares quite a bit more information than position, including
gear position, engine speeds etc. I'm guessing from what you're saying here
that you're using 0.9.10 - a lot (though almost certainly not all) of these
issues have been tidied up in CVS.

Most of these problems have a very simple cause - leading slashes in the
relevant animation xml (e.g. /gear/gear[0]/position-norm instead of
gear/gear[0]/position-norm). This means that rather than reading the gear
position of that particular MP a/c, the animation code is reading your own
gear state.

That already exists (in CVS at least, can't remember whether it's in 0.9.10).
You should enable "show chat messages" on the Rendering Options dialogue and
then you can send messages from View/Chat.

In addition, there is working MP radio communcation in the pipeline

Yeah, MP certainly adds a new dimension to FG and I've got so used to it now
that I'd really miss it if I had to discontinue using it for whatever
reason...

If you can't test a CVS build of flightgear, it would be very helpful to take
a note of all the aircraft you see gear/control surface problems with, and
checking whether they've been fixed in CVS (by removing the leading slash in
the relevant animation section.) You can look at the current files here

Cheers,
