To all the FG developers,
I just wanted to write a note of thanks to all the developers for putting
together such an extraordinary piece of software.
I am not an IT professional nor a "geek" by anyones measure. Linux is a hobby
for me. Whilst have had some experience at compiling OS software thorough
several incarnations of LinuxFromScratch, I have been out of practice for a
couple of years. I must say that compiling the program for source was a
challenge for an amateur like me and I had to draw deeply on my experiences
with LFS. My /usr/local/lib directory, which was empty when I started, now
looks like a zoo! Keeping the animals in their cages and only letting them
out when required took some diligence but it was worthwhile. I now proudly
have four versions of FG on my system to choose from! 0.9.10 (from the ubuntu
repositories), 0.9.11-pre1, cvs and cvs-pre-osg-plib.
I have never been a "gamer" as such but as an aviation buff since childhood
(like all of you, I assume!) having such a sophisticated piece of simulation
software made available is a godsend.
Many thanks.
Now that I have your attention, a small question. I'm interested in sprucing
up the scenery around my home village but am a little confused by the
difference between fgsd and TerraGear, and what I should use to edit scenery.
I would very much appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction
there.
Regards,
Drew
