This is sort of a continuation of a previous discussion from a month or
so ago where I was wondering if my planes veering to the left was a
driver issue or Flightgear and others were reporting similar issues.
That thread sort of got into a "works for me" scenario with no real
resolution and in defense of that argument I can say there appears to
be some documentation on my Joystick that indicates it has a veer to
the left problem and an updated driver allowing you to set an ignore
range has helped others. I have found on mine though that I seem to be
able to help the situation by trimming the rudder while in my take off
roll. It seems though that when I land I suddenly develop a heavy
right hand turn which seems I cannot get out of. This could be pilot
error thought in that my landings are really sloppy and the only reason
I am probably still rolling is because FlightGear never really crashes
the plane.

But to the main point of my question (and this does still have a
bearing on the rudder problem I mention above). I have tried the F16
and I can take off in it and absolutely no veer to the left without any
rudder trim. Clean takeoff and straight ahead. I have climb problem
since my trim of elevators and aileron trim is no that good but nice
straight roll and take off.

I have had great success and fun using the C310 (with IFR) and using
some rudder trim during the takeoff roll and then a little elevator
trim and I can get nice straight and level flight. Again my landings
in this craft usually result in a hard veer to the right. I intend to
try the trim reset just before landing and see what that does.

Now for the Cessna 172P. This plane seems incredibly hard to fly but I
thought it was sort of a trainer type. Even trying to trim the rudder
I am all over the runway during takeoff. Was airborne I seem incable
of keeping it from veering left or of getting it straight and level. I
am continually readjusting and working the stick to stay on course.
Not near as much fun as the C310. Is the Cessna 172P really that
difficult or is there something else I am doing wrong.

I tried the 182 as well and it was really difficult as well. These are
all out of KSFO and using 0.9.10.

Any thoughts. This is also sort of a question on basic flying
techniques and things I might be doing wrong or basic aerodynamic
issues between the different planes.

Thanks for a great program.
