When I run FlightGear v0.9.10 on Windows 2000 using fgrun - I downloaded the Piper Comanche and the Cherokee but when I try to run either after unzipping I get these errors:
Failed to find runway 28R at airport 0Q3 Failed to load submodel: Failed to open file at D:/FlightGear/data/Aircraft/Instruments-3d/Century-III/AutopilotMode.xm l Failed to load aircraft from Aircraft/pa24-250/Models/pa24-250.xml (Falling back to glider.ac.) OpenAL error (AL_INVALID_VALUE): constructor (alBufferData) Fatal error: Failed to buffer data. OpenAL error (AL_INVALID_VALUE): constructor (alBufferData) Fatal error: Failed to buffer data. The above is where I tried each of the 3 piper selections one after the other and none worked.
