Are you running freeglut 2.4.0 instead of freeglut 2.2.0 ?

This has been reported as a problem for FlightGear before in the past.

BTW, I haven't tried the latest FlightGear RC2 yet, so I don't know if
it's still an issue for the upcoming release.
