No, you don't need a special license. Flightgear is distributed for
free under the terms of the GPLv2. That basically comes down to the
following:
1. You are free to take the code, and do with it what you want (change
it, build it, distribute it, whatever). BUT if you want to distribute
flightgear, you need to respect the following:
2. You are free to distribute flightgear, either in binary form or as
source code, but you are obliged to publish the source code under the
same license (or a compatible license). In case of binary
distribution, the exact source code used to create the binary, must be
provided with the binary.
