Hi guys,

This is a late response to follow up. I tried everything posted on this
thread but it seems my problem was something different. I had messed up things
a lot. Had to reinstall nvidia driver first incorrectly then correctly. And
then when I finally got the correct driver, glx didn't load had to fix that
following this link:

  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=478489

works for RHEL as well.

I have got FG working properly now. No more slow frame rate. Long story short,
apparently it is as simple as installing Mesa using linux-dri-x86-64 to enable
direct rendering. Had quite a few problems in that as well but that is a right
way to go.

Just thought of writing this for future reference.

Thanks.

Ekhlas.

Try commenting out 'Load "dri"' in the module section

of /etc/X11/xorg.conf. The NVIDIA driver should handle that.

FYI this is what I have in that section:

Section "Module"

  Load "extmod"

  Load "dbe"

  Load "xtrap"

  Load "glx"

  Load "record"

  Load "type1"

  Load "freetype"

EndSection
