I don't think I understand what is being asked for here... What is the
question?

Also (and it may be me that is wrong here) there might be some confusion
in the OP's description anyway?

I think that the PRIMARY selection is used for highlighted text
operations, and the CLIPBOARD is used for DnD and regular ^c/^v
operations. Though I coule well be worng about that.

Also, though the ICCM lists PRIMARY, SECONDARY and CLIPBOARD, it also says
there's actually nothing to stop you having an arbitrary number of copy
buffers, so long as you identify each one uniquely...

But I'm not sure what the question really is, so don't know what to
answer.
