I think we agreed was \a was rendering nicely (at least on the screen) ) and 
obviously it was not your fault if we mixed on that point ...
because we only shortly talked about that.

As I don't really have a strong  preference and don't print the html version, I 
am open to any of them, so if Greg would prefer \p, it's just fine for me ; 
provided that all parameters are uniformized to that choice in fltk after it 
has been decided.
Finally, it would be nice to add this in the coding standards too.
