You can do clip masking; see the HTMLDOC write_image and write_imagemask code
in ps-pdf.cxx:
svn+ssh://svn.easysw.com/public/htmldoc/branch/branch-1.8/htmldoc/ps-pdf.cxx
Either way you can't do full alpha blending in PostScript - that requires PDF.
