> Should we apply as mentors?

It would be brilliant if someone had the time to mentor a student
because participating would:

  (a) be good publicity and raise the general awareness of fltk;
  (b) add new functionality or a new set of widgets.

But it raises two questions: who has the time to be a mentor?
and what [self-contained] functionality or widgets to implement?

Do the projects have to be new code/features? If so, that would
probably rule out consolidating and checking the UTF-8 stuff :-(

I would have suggested updating and verifying the various build
configurations, but Michael's CMake and Matt's fluid/ide projects
will probably have taken care of most of that. Great work guys!

Is the fltk-1.3 to fltk-2.0 compatibility layer too involved for
a short term GSoC project? That would unify development and bring
some confidence back to the projects that use fltk-2.0, including
all of the example code in Bjarne's C++ book.

Just my 2 euro cents worth.
