That's what I'd interpreted it as...

Here's a thing: I'm not that familiar with the win32 task-manager, but I
think I remember there is (or at least used to be, though maybe under
NT4 !) a way to see the actual threads associated with each process.

Does that still exist? Or can something similar be invoked (e.g. from
within the VC tools?)

That might give us a clue as to what is happening here...
