OK - I was not aware of the fltk2 version, so I had envisaged picking up
on Manolo's OSX version (which also draws anti-aliased fonts as textures
in GL...) and cobbling that up to work with XFT. 
Which does indeed save us from the need for Xlib fonts on XFT systems.
(Though there still seems to be some latent demand for non-XFT versions,
so we still need the support in that case...)

I just wish I had the time to fix this, as it is somehting I could
actually use...!
