To be honest, I have always set the icon with platform specific code anyway, as that allows much more flexibility (alpha, masks, etc...) than the stock code at present. (And that is presumably what Pierre is hoping to add, I assume.) Also, there is the OSX problem - the icon's are set via the bundle, not via the code at all, so whatever API we make is not really going to be portable to OSX... Again, this is no problem for me, but might be a "suprise" to those not used to OSX, when porting their code across.
