There is no known problem that explains this behaviour. You are going to have to give us more details to narrow this down. If the code is built with dev-c++, that'll be gcc underneath, so do a debug build, then run the code from gdb on your XP test box and post the crash details and a backtrace here, see if that shows anything interesting. Or, as an alternative, if you can produce a minimal, complete, compileable example that exhibits the crash, post that as source here so that others can give it a whirl, see if anyone else can reproduce the failure.
