        Yes, I've been using Okzid's fltk 1.1.6 + utf8 patch release
        with good success for my multilanguage apps, eg:

        My hope is that someday the utf8 patches would eventually be
        merged back into the 1.x release stream (1.2 anyone? ;)
        even though the official plan is to lock off at 1.1 and
        focus all efforts on 2.x.

        Thing is, 2.x has been taking a lot longer to get off the
        ground than I think anyone's anticipated, so I perceive there's
        still some momentum for 1.x to continue on past 1.1.
