I looked at the open bugs, but it seems to me that I can't help much :-(

I'd vote for this. IMHO it would be better to release 1.1.8 soon,
because otherwise it may hang forever, since there might be other bugs
(or at least STR's) showing up over time. Matt, you did a *very* good job,
and I remember that there were zero STR's at one time. Finally, it would
be possible to add a KNOWN BUGS (ISSUES :-)) section to the docs.

I'd suggest to fix all bugs that you (or anybody else) can fix soon, and
then release 1.1.8. Maybe, more users will test the new release, and
other bugs might show up. Then, there should _really_ be only bug fixes
in the 1.1 branch.
