Actually, Linux was an intended platform. A variant of it runs on Nokia N800 
Internet Tablet talking to a SQL Server backend. I made the changes similar 
to yours and a better makefile there, but my Maemo development box is down 
now. I'll update the tarball when I can, if anybody is interested. Meanwhile 
I've updated it with your patch.
