        I don't know much about this subject, but I think FLTK
        also supports Cairo -- how do the two differ?

        I'm guessing agg is lighter weight than Cairo, making it
        potentially a better fit?

        Wasn't sure what the hex codes were for in the render()
        call in the example on that page, eg. render(0xAF, 0xAF, 0xAF, 20);
