I can't answer this directly (the only Win7 machine I have spent any time on was setting up my mother-in-law's new laptop, and oddly she didn't seem to want the developer tools installed...) I have done a lot of stuff on Vista, which frankly seems to be mostly the same as Win7 so far as I could see, and that works OK. But I don't use the VS tools, so can't comment on how they work...
