XP stands for eXtreme Programming. I don't think it's outdated, actually, I don't see other ways of programming with quality (with client acceptance) without XP and TDD (Test Driven Development).
Anyway, yes, my aim is to be an independent contractor to other projects. I think that in the beginning it'll be kind of hard to get contracts to develop such critical systems.
