I'm assuming Duncan said that back-to-front, i.e. what happens if you try a 
single window rather than a double window?

It's conceivable there's some issue with the window buffering that might 
trigger that effect, so an unbuffered single window might show a different 
behaviour.

Though if that is the case, well, I don't know that we can fix it in fltk 
without special cases to detect the suspect driver layer and that isn't likely 
to happen...
