Seamus Byrne designed our logo and branding strategy back in 2007. It included
the star from the beginning. As far as I know, it used an openly licensed font
from the beginning. Did this change at some point in the future?

The Amsterdam conference branding was just a nice creative flourish on Seamus'
part--he took the Sakai conference branding and "infused" it, merging the
windmill theme of Holland with the Fluid star.

I'm not necessary attached to the star specifically, but I think it's important
not to risk making our visual brand too generic. We want it to be recognizable,
stable, and appealing. Logos rarely "mean" anything substantial; they're about
establishing a visual association. We should have a clear reason and strategy
if we want to change our branding.
