The best way of handling this is to add the following entries to the
whitelist:

*xml
*rss
*atom

This will take care of many of the requests that pass to the gReader
standalone app.

I also put the following two into my whitelist though I think they do
no good. At worst, they are harmless:

feed://*
rss://*

If a feed bounces back to the browser, look at the feed's url as shown
in the window. Find how that URL ends, and create a new whitelist
entry based on that.
