the wind started howling in Needles (CA) Sunday night: it woke me up
several times: the suspended flashing red traffic light in the center of
town was swinging wildly: the pages of the newspaper that I left poolside
that afternoon made their way to the narrow alley behind the 410-Motel and
continued to loudly thrash against the back wall of my room: the
gas-station attendant in Needles came out to tell me that I could pump the
gas before paying: an old pump with softly clicking metal mechanical
numbers: big big winds while driving through the lovely desert - once I
had to swerve to the shoulder to avoid several huge tumbleweeds rolling in
concert. I've been using my new pinhole camera with Fuji Velvia
transparency film. I guess at the exposures: a second or two or three or
four... took some shots the California side of Lake Havasu and the
Colorado River south of the Hoover Damned
