Are you really talking about NATIONALISM, which to me is a kind of defense, 
or at least support, of the "flag" and all it stands for -- OR, are you 
talking about a kind of regionalism, which is more about regional culture and 
history than politics?

 I think art should reflect whatever the artist wishes it to. For some this
 may mean a concern with nationalism but such work is likely to be less
 interesting because a nationalistic viewpoint is essentially a narrow one
 that imposes unnecessary boundaries on the creative process.
