Have always wondered if using a system or set of chance
operations--is really "chance"?
I think it is more like "chosen chance" or "designated driver"
chance.
The Shotgun Sheriff, the Executioner, the Firesquad Foreman,
Guillotine Guy, Hangman Harry and the Brigadier Captian of the
BrassKnuckle Brigade
stared long, slow and mean
down dusty deserted Main street--
straight at the Last Chance Kid
boring into his cancelled eyes
"Last Chance Kid" barked the Man with a Megaphone "we got here a
Ouija Board, an Eee-djing set, a pack o' cards, a pair of dice, a computer
program, some drawing sticks anna spin-the wheel.
"Which one o' them sets of chance operations you wanna
choose fer
to meet yer maker?"
The Last Chane Kid began a series of legnthy and complex
computations in his head . . .
"knit one, purl two, knit one, purl two, if he hollers, let him go
. . . do-see do , boys, do see-do, this one out & now you go
. . . take one down and pass it around . . . ninety nine beers on
the
wall . . . "
long into the night the Pateint Ones waited, while the howking
mob danced around the stake--and the horses stood ready at the quartering
machine . ..
and the Last Chance Kid just kept a'calculatin' . . .
