Sol has an old 486, he could run FreeBSD with X11R6, would be a perfect
machine for everything, others could run NetBSD or some kind of PPC Linux,
until they'll get MacOSX, maybe a reason to buy a box from cupertino, who
knows, maybe not, because FreeBSD etc are allways cooler. See "How cool is
FreeBSD" in the FAQ.
There is a lot of bla about KDE, not bad, but I have nothing but twm, the
default, with xterm and gyroscope in the mousemenu. Clean window. Playing
with xfm, the most primitiv filemanager in the world, now, click and
dropetc, one can run the commandline tools also via such a thing. Pine
etc. Thinking about creating a drag and drop gifsicle etc pp. Not much
more difficult than finding things at info-mac. Not shure if its worth the
efford, nothing new and more complicated then simple twm alone, at
last. But for the fun of clicking..and it might be usefull for an
overwiev, clicking gifs like with acdc etc. What do others think ?
Btw, vMac is nice for clicking, playing MacOS, executor is finer for
running real apps. Whish it had a direct commandline interface. Instead of
the graphical "browser".
