Enfantterrible MAIL-ARTnewsletter 7 - September 2000 by Luc Fierens

Dear Mail-artists,Networkers, Fluxed friends,

This is my new newsletter and (if you don't want to receive my
newsletter, please let me know ) if you want to renew our
contact, please do and send your information by e-mail & visual poetry
by snail - mail . & fluxusrelated stuff (you all know i was fluxed
years ago and i edit a series of artist'publications called
POSTFLUXPOSTBOOKLETS ) by snail-mail .........

This newsletter is still a letter of thoughts,i want to share with
the growing community of mail-artists on/outside ( i hate the word
snail-mail) the Net. Information is available on several sites,so
this is more a personal comment , this is my personal opinion.

What happened the last months ?

1) The results of our "Living in the
Mirror"mail-artkids'workshopsproject were shown in the Central
Postoffice in Brussels 22.05-17.06.2000 and the catalogues (a box
with 50 coloured postcards and mail-arttexts in four languages) were
send out to all kids !
We still sell some of the boxes to finance the ongoing process ( the
concerning parties in Mexico, USA, Brasil and France go on with their
exchanges of kids'mail -art so.. ) : a box costs 11 USD
(incl.postage) The week-end of 17.06 , i wrote my text concerning the
mail-artdebate (see Held/Kairan/site boek 861). I am happy that many
people reacted and also that week-end Laurie Zimmerman (from
Philadelphia, USA) came to visit us . She is a female American rabbi
and she visited several people (incl. e-/mail-artists) all over
Europe . She met us (Guido Vermeulen, Annina and myself ) in Brussels
in the middle of the Euro 2000 circus. That weekend we also went to
see the Ambiorix project in Tongeren and she got the chance to meet
Guy Bleus, Charles Franois & others ...) Laurie got in touch with
mail-art via some e-mail-artlists and she did a special
mail-artproject when she was a rabbistudent. She is a political
activist . She wore the sign "another rabbi for the revolution" in
the demonstrations against the republic Nat. Convention 6/8/2000 .

2) Annina and i will travel to Minden from 8 till 11 sept. 2000 to
take part in Peter & Angela Netmail's MAIL-ARTfestival. Annina will
do a part of the mural / Global and we hope to meet John Held jr. ,
Dobrica Kamperelic, Filimir... Serge Segay and Rea Nikonova won't be
there , i asked them to come but Serge is very ill , i hope he will
be okay.
3) Afterwards 15 - 25 Sept. we will travel to Columbus(OH) . Mark
Corroto (Fagagaga) invited us to come for the opening of the Ray
Johnsonretrospective and for the opening of the "Art is in the
mail(s) Mail-artexhibition. We hope to meet many American
mail-artists and we will also visit Joel Cohen (Stickerdude) and Dave
Hornor in NYC .
For this occasion ,Annina and i have made a new Postfluxpostbooklet
nr. 44 , A6, b/w printed in a limited edition of 25 , so hurry to
order 5 USD (incl.postage) , thanks in advance for the support .
4) At the end of september ,when we get back we will probably start
to think about the preparations of a new short series of
kids'mail-artworkshops , and take part in a public artproject here in
Mechelen (B) . We will bring strong social-artmessages against racism
and facism , more news later
