I agree, I agree! All kinds of critters in the yard, but mostly bumbling. Raccoon family number 7(!) and romp, but don't seem to touch the garden goodies...a special chair for "Cornboy" the squirrel so he can eat his cob in comfort. The *little* buggers are the ones that are sometimes a challenge, but, for example, snails lose themselves in drunken stupor (and, finally, death) after little cups of beer ("Samuel Adams", but I think ^any^ brand will do) are strategically placed thoughout the yard. When autumn comes, neighbors are frantically raking leaves and bagging them (AAARgh!), but I follow up in the car and pick them up off of the curbs and dump them in my yard. With a good mulching mower, you just can't get enuf leaves! Fun and creativity, I think, helps too. The "Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept." seemed to be impressed enuf to certify the yard as a "Backyard Wildlife Habitat". ^That's^ one of the things that makes this kinda activ! ity real special (as well as being closer to our yard "friends").
