To All: Good article in the April "Artforum" that arrived in today's mail - "Wolf Vostell Reconsidered" by Glenn O' Brien. Second paragraph reads, in part: "What's most interesting to me now are those other 'Pop' artists: Ray Johnson, Joe Brainard and the German Wolf Vostell - category escapists, fame and fortune refuseniks, historical footnotes now kicking al the right canonical butts...Now's the time to take another look at the Anti Warhols, the Pop practitioners who did for mass culture's dark sideshows what Drella did for celebritydom's pop pantheon. Two of them, Johnson and Brainard, have recently received substantial shows. Vostell, who was associated with Fluxus from the beginning and with the wild bohemian NO! artists (especially NO!art cofounder Boris Lurie) and their Happenings, is currently the subject of a small survey at Janos Gat Gallery in New York (April 10 - May 12)...." Which reminds me, anybody know much about the NO!art group??? I haven't been able to find much on it. In the "Artforum" Review section, we have Christian Marclay at Paula Cooper Gallery in New York: "If one could make a diagram of the way christian Marclay thinks, it might look something like the family tree of the royals, with crossing arrows linking cousins and in-laws: Fluxus here, Brancusi there, Duchamp, punk, John Cage, noise music......" Fluxus mentioned twice???? Who woulda' thunk it? Best, PK
