Hi everyone,

I'm a listowner too (not this list... another for an artist and his fans) and it's
true that our function is just
to do a lot of button-pushing, taking care of messages which are 'bounced' &
non-member correspondence, dead email
addresses and so on... also on those unpleasant (thankfully rare!!) occasions to
enforce some matter of list policy
or just plain, decent manners. But, it's also true that once I was asked to be the
list's owner, having been a
member for years, the membership at large started treating me... differently.
Everything I said on the list carried
more weight, even lighthearted comments. If I'd said the same things as another
member of the list, it would have
been seen in a much more casual light.

I have never felt very comfortable in this role because for one thing, I don't like
undue attention. For another I
don't like being accused of things like being a fascist dictator because I'm asking
someone to please be respectful
of another member's privacy. That sort of thing.

Being a list owner is definitley a drag sometimes and it has to be a labor of love, or
else it isn't worth it. I'm
sorry to see the management of FLUXLIST getting discouraged lately but I do understand.

xxx
Robin
