Ludwig-Tieck-Langeweile-Preis 2001 The german poet Ludwig Tieck (1773-1853) wrote in his novel “Die Vogelscheuche”: „Die Zeit, unser Leben, ist gewi� das Edelste, was uns verliehen ist. [...] Je mehr wir aber die Dauer der Stunde, des Tages, der Woche f�hlen, je mehr werden wir uns auch unseres Lebens bewu�t. [...] Je mehr wir die Zeit unseres Daseins f�hlen, je mehr leben wir, und dieses fortwaehrende Bewu�tsein unseres Lebens kann nur durch das hervorgebracht werden, was die Genievoelkchen so gemeinhin Langeweile nennen.[...], wir werden uns redlich bemuehen, statt zu verkuerzen, den Zuschauern und Lesern (mit unseren Werken) die Stunden zu verlaengern. transpose the meaning of it into English: Our life is
the most important good which is given to us. It is important to be aware of it.
The more we feel the time of our lives the more we live. And this conciousness
of our life is strongest when one is bored. In stead of shortening time (with
our works) we should try to stretch it. I came
across this the past days and I felt that it was of incredible importance for
all human beeings. Because of this I decided to dedicate my next work to Ludwig
Tieck and his revolutionary idea of boredom and I want to spend some of my
kostbar time on this idea. The
“Ludwig-Tieck-Langeweile-Preis 2001” (Ludwig-Tieck-Boredom-Price 2001) is
awarded for the most boring work. Poetry, scores, pictures, photos, everything
is welcome. The winner
will receive a copy of “Die Vogelscheuche” and a handsigned recording of my
organ-piece. Every work
which is sent to me, either by e-mail or post will be published in the Web (as
far as possible) and I try to make an exhibition of the works in my home town
Schleswig, Northern-Germany. Works sent to me after the 30th of
september 2001 can not be published anymore. But maybe there will be a second
LTLP in 2002 … Keep it
